Web search
Your agents know your numbers cold — but some questions need the outside world. “How do our margins compare to the industry?” or “what’s the going rate for this kind of contract?” can’t be answered from your data alone. For those, certain agents can search the web.

When agents search the web
Web search isn’t used for everyday questions about your own data — that all comes from inside Inkome. It kicks in only when an agent needs current, external information: industry benchmarks, market research, competitive context, or economic conditions. The agent decides when a question calls for it.
Only some agents can search:
| Agent | Searches the web for |
|---|---|
| CFO | Market research and economic analysis to ground projections. |
| Analyst | Industry benchmarks and market research for comparisons. |
| Sales Director | Competitive analysis and market trends. |
The Inkome Assistant and Accountant don’t search the web — they stick to your data.
How it works
Behind the scenes Inkome uses two search providers — Tavily for fast, AI-optimized lookups and Perplexity for deeper, synthesized research. You don’t choose between them; the agent picks the right tool for the question. When an answer draws on the web, it brings the findings back into the conversation, typically with the sources it used.
Limits
To keep things fair and predictable, web searches are capped per organization per day, shared across all agents and both providers. The default allowance is 50 searches per day per organization. If that’s reached, agents fall back to answering from your own data rather than searching.
